Who needs a ticket?
Every person on our boat counts against our passenger capacity, you will need to include adults, infants and children in your passenger count.

What changes can we expect due to the COVID-19 Pandemic?
We take the health and safety of our passengers and crew very seriously and operated safely and successfully throughout the 2020 and 2021 seasons. A complete list of COVID-19 Safety protocols can be found here. In the past our pre-boarding activities included dress-up. We will not be providing dress up for the 2022 season but we have added airbrush tattoos and a giant puzzle for your campers to complete.

Will my group mix with the public?
All groups who have at meet the minimum of 25 pasengers will be guarunteed a private cruise. This will provide schools and camp groups a field trip destination that allows for a safe, outdoor experience. Private packages are available for groups as small as 25 passengers.

What if my group is larger than 45 passengers?
If your group has more than 45 people you can book corresponding time slots and have one group eat lunch in our indoor party room while the other group is out and vice versa. This allows for 90 passengers to be accommodated. The best time slots to use for this option are the 11:00 and 12:30 time slots because they work out for lunch time. If you book the 11:00 and 12:30 time slots you will be on site from 10:30am to 1:45pm. The layover time for each group is one hour and 15 minutes. We have a games and a pirate activity book for restless mates and there is also a playground with plenty of shade that is a walkable three blocks away.

Is there a refundable deposit?
We take a 20% deposit to hold a date on our busy field trip calendar. With the pandemic continuing to be a rapidly developing situation the deposit will be refundable for any reason as long as a cancellation request is received one week prior to your trip. The deposit is non-refundable after the one week deadline. Should you cancel your trip the deposit will be refunded one week before your originally scheduled date. If Pirate Adventures cancels your trip for any reason after the one week deadline the deposit is fully refundable. Final payment is due on week prior to sailing and is non-refundable unless Pirate Adventures cancels due to weather or unforseen reasons.

How do you handle bad weather?
When booking a field trip at Pirate Adventures you do take the risk that it could cancelled because of bad weather. Pirate Adventures will cancel your trip in the event of thunderstorms, heavy downpour, or very high winds. Pirate Adventures will not cancel in the event of cold or grey weather, showers, drizzle, passing thunderstorms, or excessive heat. Guests should be prepared to be outdoors for two hours in changing weather conditions. We will cancel a trip two hours before check-in time at the latest. WE WILL NOT CANCEL A TRIP FOR WEATHER UNTIL THE DAY OF THE TRIP. We do our best to cancel as early as possible but we will wait if we think there is a chance that the weather may change throughout the day. If we cancel your trip for any reason you will receive a refund in full. Refunds are not issued unless Pirate Adventures deems is necessary to cancel your trip the day of the trip. Groups who do not show for a scheduled trip when Pirate Adventures has not canceled will not be offered a refund.

Where will we park?
We do have free parking for passenger vans and for small buses. We are located at a dead-end street so if you arrive in a large bus we will ask that you pull over at the nearest cross street. You will be met by pirates and escorted a short block to our location.

How do you incorporate curriculum?
The Pirate Adventure lends itself very well to map skills, geography, and Chesapeake Bay history and ecology, With certified teachers on staff we know that almost any subject can be incorporated into our Pirate Adventure to coincide with what you are learning in the classroom.

What ages do you serve?
We say our trip is age appropriate for children ages 3-10.
