Nature Climb Playground – Meadow Brook Park
After an easy trip to the Medieval Dragon Playground at the South Bowie Community Center we decided to head back to Bowie for another undiscovered playground and we found another brand new playground at Meadow Brook Park with great attention to detail . Meadow Brook Park is a small community park tucked away in a neighborhood on Moylan Drive in Bowie, Maryland. We easily got street parking and followed a small path through the woods and past some tennis courts not quite sure what to expect. As we came around the corner our 5 year old got excited for the climbing opportunities presented by the huge boulders in the shade of some large trees. The playground is located next to these boulders and whoever designed this playground really took into account the setting in the trees among the boulders. The theme is Nature Climb and there were two play structures, a set of swings, and some free standing log tunnels and stepping stones. Although it is a small playground we could have spent hours here.
The playground at Meadow Brook Park is made out of “logs” and “stones” and the most fun part about it were the hidden critters that we kept finding carved into the structure of the playground. See if you can find the squirrel and the raccoon hiding at the playground. Our little guy enjoyed crawling through the tunnel and eating the mulch that made up the playground surface. There were two other families visiting the playground for the first time and we all felt like we were in on a great secret having discovered this perfect place after multiple days of rain. Go check it out, you will be happy you did and you’ll have another go to playground to add to your list of adventures with the kids.
